Dear Colleagues,

At the last IGU meeting held in Brisbane, I have been appointed as chairman of Marine Commission. I would like to take this opportunity to express my most sincere gratitude for the work accomplished by my colleague Prof. Slack over the past years in maintaining the integrity of the Commission and in organizing the Glasgow and the Brisbane meetings.

As you will certainly appreciate, Internet has become a fundamental tool for both networking and research activities. I sincerely believe that the web is instrumental in generating interests in our activities, in attracting students and scholars alike as fully-fledged members of the Commission and in strengthening our capacity to conduct research work at the international level.

In view of this, we have built a bilingual web site for the IGU Marine Commission.

A la derni?re rencontre de l´UGI tenue ? Brisbane, j´ai été nommé ? titre de président de la Commission Maritime. J´aimerais profiter de cette occasion pour exprimer mes sinc?res remerciements pour le travail de mon coll?gue le professeur Brian Slack qui au cours des derni?res années a su maintenir l´intégrité de la Commission et a organisé les conférences de Glasgow et de Brisbane.

Comme vous pouvez certes l´apprécier, Internet est devenu un outil fondamental tant pour les activités de recherche que de rayonnement. Je crois sinc?rement que le web est intrumental ? générer des intér?ts concernant nos activités, ? attirer des étudiants et des universitaires en tant que membres actifs de notre Commission et ? soutenir notre capacité ? entreprendre des travaux de recherche ? l´échelle internationale.

Conséquemment, nous avons construit site web bilingue pour la Commission Maritime.
